D.C. UNITED, ABGC & Adidas Affiliate Agreement
First of its kind in the State of Virginia
ABGC is now one of D.C. United’s
primary sources in identifying and developing top youth talent
Washington, D.C. (January 8, 2013) – D.C. United and the Annandale Boys & Girls Club (ABGC), in conjunction with Adidas, today announced an affiliate agreement, the first of its kind between D.C. United and a club in the State of Virginia. Under the agreement, ABGC will be one of D.C. United’s primary sources in identifying and developing the top youth talent in Virginia. ABGC, along with United’s Academy, has already produced current D.C. United and U.S. Men’s National Team goalkeeper Bill Hamid. United will share its coaching resources and will work with ABGC to follow its training curriculum and system of play. Top players in the ABGC system, identified by both D.C. United and ABGC, will have the opportunity to join the D.C. United Academy teams, with a strong priority being placed on the Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 age groups. READ MORE

Adidas Uniform AgreementEffective in the Fall, 2013 all ABGC Travel Soccer teams will be wearing official MLS D.C. United Black and Red home and away Adidas uniform jerseys with the ABGC logo. Additional Adidas D.C. United and ABGC products will be available for ABGC travel players and families. All new custom order D.C. United ABGC uniforms must be ordered by July, 2013.

D.C. UNITED Staff and Coaches will be hosting FREE player clinics during April, May and early June for ABGC 8, 9 10 and 11 year old players wearing their ABGC Red game day jerseys. For insurance purposes only players wearing official ABGC red jerseys may attend these FREE clinics. Recreational House League Soccer Registration.
68% Fewer Sports Injuries
Adolescent athletes who slept eight or more hours each night were 68 percent less likely to be injured than athletes who regularly slept less, according to an abstract presented on Oct. 21, 2012 at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) National Conference and Exhibition. And adolescent athletes who regularly sleep less than 8 hours a night are three times more likely to suffer injuries as athletes who regularly sleep 8 or more hours per night. READ MORE
While our Annandale soccer program has won 7 national championships and numerous regional, state and local championships . . . our primary focus has always been to provide children ages 4 to 19 with the opportunity to have fun playing soccer at the highest level they can learn to play at. We take great pride in all of our players including those who started as recreational soccer players and went on to play high level travel soccer, for their high school, in college, for domestic and professional soccer teams as well as for the U.S. National Team. Our ABGC coaches and staff have repeatedly been recognized and honored at the local, state, and national levels for their contributions to the game.
As a coach your primary contribution to each child is teaching life's lessons like respect for others, fair play, working as a member of a team, what you can accomplish by making an effort to learn to be better and how doing something you enjoy can be fun! If you can do these things then ABGC has a coaching soccer education program to help you learn to teach our children basic soccer skills, game understanding and a love of the game.
Our Visiting Teams Information Guide provides visiting teams a local area map and guide complete with information on local area restaurants, stores and medical care facilities. Each year, during the spring and fall, our Annandale Soccer Program hosts 635 to 665 soccer games on our fields in Annandale, Alexandria, Falls Church, Merrifield and Springfield for approximately 20,000 visiting players, parents and siblings who live outside our area. When you add our 2,300 Annandale soccer players and their parents and siblings, our Visiting Teams Information Guide promotes local businesses to 27,000 prospective customers
Our goal is that every club member learn to give back to our community now and throughout their lives. We believe that our most important mission is to teach life's lessons to our many youth members. In addition to learning to give back to our community through volunteer community service hours, our programs teach teamwork, the rewards of working hard to learn to play well, taking pride in accomplishments, to be gracious in victory and to always respect coaches, spectators, teammates, opponents and one's own parents.

ABGC is dedicated to preparing our student athletes to play for many of the best schools in the country and to assisting them in their college search. For almost five decades our players have been awarded an inpressive number of college scholarships and proven their ability to combine academic excellence with strength of character and athletic success. College programs recognize our players as excellent students and accomplished athletes capable of playing at the highest level. Our goal is for all our alumni to graduate from college becoming more successful off the field than they have been on.
